Fight over evidence in Alex Murdaugh retrial turns to DNA and missing murder weapons

Alex Murdaugh’s defense can do their own tests of unidentified DNA found under his wife’s fingernails after she and her son were shot to death in 2021, a judge said Friday, part of an increasingly bitter battle over what evidence can be used in his murder retrial next year.
