Legacy Trail extension approved, will connect to UTC area

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Sarasota County commissioners have approved more than $3 million to extend the Legacy Trail, connecting two county parks and adding close to two miles to the trail. The new phase will link the trail all the way to the UTC area.The extension creates a “park-to-park” connection near Nathan Benderson Park, tying the park to 23 miles of trail already established in the area.Just off the shores of the park’s West Lake, the Sarasota Model Yacht Club runs model RC sailboat races.“Six to seven days a week we come out to Nathan Benderson, and we race model RC sailboats,” said Rob Wucki of the Sarasota Model Yacht Club.Wucki’s group, about a hundred members strong, runs its competitions at county parks.“We sail around sometimes in the front lakes and now we’ve been using this lake back here and we are looking at some other opportunities to move around to different county parks,” Wucki said.Sarasota Circus Trail expansion could add miles of connected pathwaysThe Legacy Tra
