Student dies after accidental injury at school involving scissors, officials say

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV/Gray News) — A Missouri high school student died Tuesday after suffering an accidental injury at school last week.The injury happened at University City High School near St. Louis.School district officials said a student was accidentally injured with a pair of scissors at the district’s high school on Oct. 5, which prompted a lockdown.On Tuesday, officials said that student died from his injuries.School district officials and police said there was an internal investigation following the injury, and no foul play was suspected.Police did not reveal exactly how the student was injured with scissors.The district said it is making crisis counselors available to students and staff.“The wellbeing of our University City students, staff, families and community remains our highest priority,” the district wrote in a release. “Comprehensive crisis counseling and mental health support services are available at all district schools for any student or staff member in need o
