‘Office Space’ actor Richard Riehle dies at 78

(Gray News) — Actor Richard Riehle died Thursday in Los Angeles at age 78.Friends of Riehle told TMZ he died of natural causes. Variety also confirmed his death.Riehle is known for playing Tom Smykowski in “Office Space,” the product manager who was laid off, survived a hit-and-run and earned a financial settlement that allowed him to build his “Jump to Conclusions” mat.Riehle appeared in more than 400 films, TV shows and other projects, including recurring roles in “Grounded for Life” and the “Star Trek” franchise.According to Variety, Riehle attended the University of Notre Dame before receiving a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. He was born in Wisconsin.He is survived by his wife and four children.
